Post Jungian Theory & Practice, Contemporary Understanding
DESCRIPTION
The seminar will give an introduction in why it is important to conduct research in analytical psychology, an overview of research strategies and findings in the fields of effectiveness of Jungian psychotherapy as well as psychodynamic psychotherapies in general, and in the field of fundamentals of analytical psychology (e.g.archetypes). In a more practical part current research projects on dreams in psychotherapy and systematic single case studies will be presented.
The aim of this workshop is to give an overview over research activities in the field of analytical psychology and psychodynamic psychotherapy in general. Different research designs using quantitative as well as qualitative methodology, and their combination in mixed methods designs, will be introduced. These research designs will be illustrated by completed or ongoing studies conducted in the field of analytical psychology. The designs include the use of the association experiment/word association test, single case report frames, interpretative methods for the analysis of dream series and pictures etc. which are all designed to catch the specific aspects of Jungian psychotherapy. Participants will be supported in planning their own studies in different contexts so as to promote the implementation of research in different fields and countries in analytical psychology.
