DESCRIPTION

This seminar will look at the functions of a good patient assessment before beginning analytic work. It will explore the benefits and also the disadvantages of this way of beginning for both patient and analyst.

It will question the assumption that everyone can benefit from depth psychology and look at the idea of a good patient/analyst fit.

The speaker will refer to her extensive experience in running a referral service for those looking for help, and explore how an assessment can be a helpful introduction to the idea of analytic work for the reluctant or anxious patient.
