In Answer to Job, Jung uses ‘even means I find reprehensible to deliver myself from God the Father’. This angry, petulant and sarcastic outburst was the one piece of writing he later said he would not want to edit. The aim of the seminar is to look closely at this essay and other writings to elucidate Jung’s concept of the transformation of the western God image from Yahweh to Christ to its modern psychological form, in which we are enjoined to hold the tension of the opposites of Good and Evil in ourselves. The inner work of the withdrawal of shadow projections may transform human consciousness and therefore behaviour. The Job images of William Blake will take us into a creative engagement in the final session of these seminars.
